Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, captured by Hamas, has reportedly been wounded in Tel Aviv's three-week offensive on the Gaza Strip.
Citing a spokesman for the Popular Resistance Committees, the London-based Al Hayat daily reported Saturday that Shalit was wounded during Operation Cast Lead in the Gaza Strip. He, however, did not give more details.

According to spokesman Abu Abir, only very few people know where Shalit is being held, Israel Radio reported.
Israel cites the release of Shalit, who was captured by resistance fighters during a cross-border operation in June 2006, as the main condition for the ongoing peace talks with Hamas.
Hamas, however, says Shalit's issue has nothing to do with a lasting truce deal. The Islamic movement says it will release Shalit only if Tel Aviv frees hundreds of Palestinian detainees.

The truce talks, brokered by the Egyptian government, focused on an armistice between Hamas and Israel pending a lift of an Israeli-imposed blockade of the Gaza Strip.
French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said Friday that the two issues -- truce in Gaza and the release of Gilad Shalit, should be worked out simultaneously without being conditioned on the other.
