Expediency Council member Mir Hossein Mousavi will enter the presidential race, his campaign coordinator Qorban Behzadian-Nejad says.
“Mousavi has carried out whatever measure a candidate should do. So, his candidacy is definite,” Behzadian-Nejad added.
Moussavi, a member of the National Confidence (Etemad-e-Melli) Party, is a prominent figure among the Reformists.
If Moussavi joins Iran's presidential race he will become the third candidate from the Reformist camp which has so far introduced former president Seyyed Mohammad Khatami and former parliament speaker Mehdi Karroubi as candidates for the June 12 presidential elections.
Behzadian-Nejad, meanwhile, expressed hope that Reformists reach a consensus on a single candidate.
Mousavi, who is currently a member of Iran's Expediency Council, is widely remembered for steering the country out of an economic meltdown during the Iraq-Iran war in the 1980s.
He also served as the last Iranian Prime Minister before the post was abolished.
