The presidents of Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan have agreed to hold regular meetings to discuss regional economic and security issues.
The three leaders met in Tehran on Tuesday on the sidelines of a regional summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).
The three decided that their foreign ministers would hold monthly meetings to discuss regional issues, according to a spokesman for Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari.
The agenda for the first foreign ministerial meeting would be announced on late Wednesday, media reports said.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Zardari, also decided to attend quarterly meetings.
Fight against terrorism, trade development, and regional security issues are expected to be high on their agenda during their meetings.
Ahmadinejad and Zardari also discussed a proposed 7.6-billion-dollar natural gas pipeline to run from Iran through Pakistan and India.
