Israeli military forces have sealed off the West Bank for four days due to the Jewish holiday of Purim, an army statement says.
From midnight Sunday until early Thursday morning the Israeli army forces will implement a "general closure," as the Purim holiday is a "highly sensitive period in terms of the security risk," the army said in the statement.
Access through checkpoints will be granted for persons in need of medical care, doctors, journalists, humanitarian aid, according to authorization by Israel offices, the statement said.
The carnival-like Purim holiday will be celebrated from Monday night with parades and costume parties.
Israeli police raised its alert level on Sunday.
