Iran's parliament has pledged to back the reconstruction of Gaza's parliament, houses and schools destroyed in latest Israeli offensive.

As Israel completed its troop pullout from Gaza after 23 days of war, the true scale of the destruction became clear. Iran has announced its aid program to help reconstruct the embattled Palestinian territory.

Tehran's Gaza Reconstruction Headquarters is set to start building 1,000 residential units, 10 schools, 5 mosques, 500 trade centers, a hospital and a university in the coastal territory and help reconstruct the city's devastated infrastructure and economy.

Iran's parliament (Majlis) promised to rebuild the Palestinian parliament in Gaza City, destroyed during the Israeli offensive.

"The Iranian parliament is to undertake rebuilding the Palestinian Parliament which was destroyed in the bombardments by the Zionist regime," Iran's parliament Speaker Ali Larijani announced.

"The Israeli aggression left more than 5,000 children, women, and men wounded and destroyed around 20,000 houses. However, their resistance undermined Israel before the eyes of the world," Larijani stated.

Iran has also set up a public-funded committee to prompt reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

"The treatment of 4,000 wounded Gazans is another program to help the Palestinians suffering under Israeli hostility," Iran's vice president for Executive Affairs, Ali Saeedlou said. "Iran is to take the orphans under its wing."

Israel began waging war on the Gaza Strip on December 27, and managed to kill a total of 95 resistance fighters. Its major targets, however, were residential areas, mosques and medical centers.

The full-scale offensive led to the death of at least 1,100 civilians, many of them women and children. Officials from various international bodies have confirmed that Tel Aviv resorted to unconventional weapons and terror tactics.
