Egypt Regime: “Nasrallah is Iran’s Agent”

30/01/2009 | Al Manar

An Egyptian regime source on Friday accused Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah of being an “agent to the Iranian regime” and that he takes his orders from Tehran.

In an official statement received by AFP, a “senior Egyptian official” said that Sayyed Nasrallah’s comments Thursday, “which included transgression and criticism to Egypt, undoubtedly prove once again his clear collaboration with the Iranian regime and his compliance with Tehran’s orders.”

The “source” added: “What Nasrallah reiterates about the ‘coercive’ role of the Egyptian mediation efforts between Israel and the Palestinians, in fact, unveils deep bitterness by all strained parties whose transgression of Egypt throughout the war on Gaza has failed to fulfill their desperate hopes to alter the pivotal role of Egypt regarding the Palestinians cause, which is dictated by history and consolidated by geography.”

Sayyed Nasrallah accused the Egyptian regime of taking part in the blockade of Gaza by keeping the Rafah crossing closed. The Hezbollah chief called for more pressure to open all crossings to the Strip.

The Egyptian statement claimed that Sayyed Nasrallah could not play any role to support Gaza, “because his regional allies did not let him so as not to confuse their calculations.”

The “source” added that “Nasrallah is still seeking, from his hideout and through his high tone, to put forward what he believes is support to the Palestinians.”

The statement also read: “Nasrallah’s audacity can only be understood in the larger framework that has been unveiled recently and through the demands by some Palestinian factions to Egypt that it drops the peace treaty signed with Israel and enters in a military confrontation again, after decades of peace.”

The “source” pointed that the “scheme that some have been implying to regarding the opening of the Rafah crossing for individuals and weapons and the support of the so called choice of resistance, was exposed in Egypt from the very beginning. Egypt was never to have been dragged behind a handful of naïve adventurers who trade the blood of innocent civilians for interest of some specific regional sides that are manipulating their fates and using them as fuel for their confrontation with a major power and for the interest of causes outlying the Palestinian cause.”

Talk of Gaza ghetto draws Egyptian ire
Fri, 30 Jan 2009 16:06:07 GMT | PressTV

At least 1,330 Gazans were killed and at least 5,450 others were hospitalized as a result of the 23-day Israeli onslaught.
Egypt hurls a new broadside against Iran and Hezbollah as criticism continues to mount on Cairo for its passive stance on the Gaza crisis.

In a Friday statement, the Egyptian government accused the leader of Lebanon's Hezbollah resistance movement, Hassan Nasrallah, of acting as an 'agent provocateur' for Tehran.

"Hassan Nasrallah's criticism of Egypt confirms once more that he is nothing more than an agent of the Iranian regime and takes his orders from Tehran," reads the Egyptian government statement.

Nasrallah on Thursday sharply criticized Egypt for keeping the Rafah crossing closed in the face of the daunting humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

"[Egypt] told the Arab and Islamic world that the Rafah border was opened and it was not," said the Hezbollah leader.

Rafah is the only escape route from Gaza which does not lead into Israel.

The Egyptian government's complicity with Israel in the imposition of its blockade on the 1.5 million people in Gaza over the past six month has provoked world criticism.

Egyptian newspaper al-Osboua has recently revealed that while Cairo blocks humanitarian supplies for Palestinians, it regularly allowed food aid for the Israeli army channel through the Awja crossing.

This is while Egypt officially refused to give an Iranian aid ship permission to unload Gaza-bound humanitarian aid at the al-Areesh seaport on Wednesday -- after weeks of stalling the vessel some 25 km (15 miles) off the coast of Gaza.

Amid the Israeli onslaught in Gaza, Iran loaded a ship with 2,000 tons of medical and food supplies to help allay the humanitarian crisis brought about by the intense fighting and the 18-month blockade on the strip.

The United Nations, concerned about the deepening humanitarian impact of the war, says there is an urgent need for emergency shipment, as Tel Aviv's repeated interception of Gaza-bound stockpiles of food, fuel and medicine has endangered humanitarian efforts for the besieged Palestinians.

The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Friday that Israel had blocked the entry of a water purification station into Gaza, forcing the repatriation of the equipment.

French foreign ministry spokesman Eric Chevallier commented that the Israeli ambassador to Paris was summoned to expound on why Tel Aviv denied Gazans the much-needed system.
